Zooey Deschanel: Broadway Bound!

Readying to tackle a new gig, Zooey Deschanel looks to have landed herself an exciting new role on Broadway according to an exiting announcement told during her stop at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee on Thursday (May 10).

The "Adorkable" actress took the stage with Loretta to reveal that the country legend had chosen the "New Girl" to portray her in the upcoming Broadway production centered on her life, "Coal Miner's Daughter".

Following the news the duo grabbed a pair of mics and belted out Loretta's famous song "Coal Miner's Daughter", and Zooey told People she coul'd be happier to play the part, “Loretta Lynn and her music have been inspirations for me for as long as I can remember. She is a true legend and to be chosen to play such an iconic woman is a dream come true".

As for Loretta, well, she hand picked Miss Deschanel so of course she's confident in her performance, explaining, “I know Zooey is going to be great – she sings and writes her own songs just like I do, and we even have the same color eyes!”
