Versace in Beijing

Versace is known as being luxurious, and they put on a fancy glamorous fashion show with Italian luxury near Beijing’s central Tiananmen Square, all while raising more than $100,000 for charity. "What appeals to me is the energy in China, especially in this city Beijing. There are a lot of young people, creative people, a lot of art -- it's very inspiring," said design head and vice president Donatella Versace.

Using the country’s own models, they strutted the stunning clothing on a circular runway. The Chinese surrounding made the clothing feel all that more lavishing. Although the show had already previously debuted in Milan, Versace showed off the spring and summer collection for 2009. Donatella said she would like to make China a regular stop on Versace's fashion show calendar.

"When I think of the collections I think of the global woman, especially the global businesswoman. I think of this woman as very elegant," said Donatella.

It was a sassy collection with lots of geometric shapes in Versace style and proportions. Beautiful gowns flowed from the models as well as tiny structured dresses with shape that had belts cinching the waist. The canvases of each piece were painted with festive prints in a swimsuit and three gowns. With plunging necklines and backs, the clothes were sexy, playful and smart.
Versace showed that they can do it big in Milan and Beijing while making the same show feel completely different.
