Tropic Thunder
Making for quite the evening to remember, the winners of the 2009 Screen Actors Guild Awards have been officially announced.
With the ceremony taking place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, a few of the night’s big winners included the critically acclaimed film “Slumdog Millionaire,” along with Meryl Streep and Sean Penn.
We’re getting to the culmination of awards show season, and earlier today the nominees for the 2009 Academy Awards were announced. And there weren’t many surprises.
Brad Pitt’s latest opus “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” nabbed the most nods - 13 total. In a close second, the sleeper hit of the year “Slumdog Millionaire” scored 10 nominations.
The red carpet veteran that he is, Tom Cruise was spotted schmoozing it up at the Beverly Hilton for the 2009 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday evening (January 11).
While his lovely wife Katie Holmes was preoccupied with her Broadway finale, the “Top Gun” stud opted to take a little parental support in her place.
With a star-studded audience on-hand, the 14th Annual Broadcast Film Critics' Association's Critic's Choice Awards were handed out at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on Thursday night (January 8).
The big winners during the course of the evening included Best Picture to "Slumdog Millionaire," while Sean Penn grabbed up Best Actor. Meanwhile, Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep ended up being granted a tie for the Best Actress honor.
As the road to awards season continues, Eric McCormack and Angela Bassett were at the Pacific Design Center to announce nominees for the 15th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.
And of course, expected names like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Heath Ledger were all included in the extensive list, as well as the cast of “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and critical favorite “Milk.”

And last night (August 11), the “Mad Money” babe and her husband Tom Cruise were spotted arriving on the red carpet outside the Mann’s Village Theatre for the big LA premiere of “Tropic Thunder.”
We were all shocked to hear about the tragic suicide attempt made by Owen Wilson this past Sunday. And now that he’s had some time to get perspective, the You Me And Dupree actor has decided to step away from acting as he works towards recovery.
The “Butterscotch Stallion” actor has announced that he will not be filming his role in the upcoming Ben Stiller film Tropic Thunder. The DreamWorks comedy has been filming for six weeks in Hawaii, and Wilson was due on the set in two or three weeks to film his scenes.
