The Joss Whedon directed superhero blockbuster boasting an all-star cast including Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth nabbed another $29.1 million on Friday and $44.5 million on Saturday which sets the projected second weekend total at a cool $104 million.
Living up to the massive hype with beyond-impressive numbers, "The Avengers" is situated atop the May 4-6, 2012 box office with the best first weekend earnings ever!

Holding strong in first place standing for the second week in a row, "Think Like a Man" is perched atop the box office to begin the slow theater weekend of April 27-29, 2012.
The Steve Harvey book-based comedy starring Meagan Good and Gabrielle Union nabbed $5.5 million on Friday and $7.6 million on Saturday which puts its estimated weekend take at $17.4 million.
While it was widely predicted that we'd see the first new box office #1 following a month of total domination by "The Hunger Games", it comes as a bit of a surprise to see "Think Like a Man" become the film that did just that.
The Steve Harvey book-based comedy starring Meagan Good and Gabrielle Union shot to the top spot with $12.2 million in opening day earnings and another $13.2 million on Saturday which puts its estimated debut weekend take at a solid $33.3 million.
