Posted Sunday November 18, 2007 4:35 PM GMT

It was a fairytale night for the cast members of "Enchanted," as the romantic-comedy made it's world premiere at the El Capitan Theatre on Saturday (November 17).

With stars such as Teri Hatcher, Helen Mirren and Carrie Underwood on hand, the contemporary twist on Disney's fairy-tale classics is hoping to make a splash at the box office.

"Enchanted begins in the animated world with an evil queen (voiced by Susan Sarandon) banishing a princess (Amy Adams) to live-action modern-day New York City," tell AP reports, which add, "There, Adams meets a divorce attorney (Patrick Dempsey) and becomes disenchanted with her old life and simple dream of marrying a prince and living happily ever after."

At Saturday night's premiere, Grey's Anatomy actor Patrick Dempsey told press on hand, "The movie is, in essence, about true love's kiss and true love. And it's everything Disney in a way, in that it's very funny and honors (the studio's animated classics), and it's an old-fashioned musical."

Meanwhile, recent Grammy winner Carrie Underwood was in attendance, as she provided the movie's end-title track, "Ever, Ever After."

Talking to press about Disney princesses, the American Idol alum told that she related most to Cinderella.

"I've never been scrubbing floors or cleaning toilets growing up. And my family was great. But just to go from small-town girl to red carpets and cameras, it's definitely a Cinderella story."

Enchanted opens in theaters on Wednesday, November 21st.
