Still managing to churn out solid numbers following the tragic shooting rampage which claimed numerous lives in Aurora, Colorado on opening night, "The Dark Knight Rises" easily retained the top spot at the box office to begin the weekend of July 27-29, 2012.

Void of any serious threats to its pole position standing, Christopher Nolan's final Batman installment starring Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway nearly quadrupled the nearest competitor while notching an estimated $18 million on Friday and $25.6 million on Saturday with an approximate sophomore weekend box office total of $64 million.

Delivering another solid performance for the animated genre, "Ice Age: Continental Drift" has become the third such film to garner the box office crown over the past five weeks.

While it hasn't posted as impressive numbers as predecessors "Brave" ($66.3 million) and "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" ($60.3 million), the Twentieth Century Fox Animation/Blue Sky Studios tale about Manny, Diego, and Sid's adventures took in approximately $16.5 million on both Friday and Saturday (July 13-14) which places its opening weekend total at a pack-leading $46 million.

With movie-goers pledging their hard earned cash to raunchy comedy entertainment, "Ted" stormed into theaters in an impressive fashion while shooting atop the box office over the weekend of June 29-July 1, 2012.

The Mark Wahlberg/Mila Kunis starring talking teddy bear film directed by Seth MacFarlane grabbed up $20.5 million on opening day followed by a $18 million Saturday en route to an estimated $52.5 million total.

Proving he cleans up pretty darn well, Mark Wahlberg was spotted making his way into the "Today" show studios to promote his latest film, "Ted", in New York City, New York on Monday (June 18).

Slipping his hands into his pockets, the "Contraband" stud looked suave in grey slacks and a baby blue button up before sitting down and throwing on his matching grey suit coat as he proceeded to talk about his character in the upcoming raunchy comedy.
