Taylor Kitsch Covers Men's Health UK April 2012

Posted Wednesday March 7, 2012 7:25 AM GMT

With his new movie "John Carter" set to hit theaters on March 9th, Taylor Kitsch landed the cover of the April 2012 issue of Men's Health UK as part of his promotional efforts.

The 30-year-old Canadian hunk showed off his lean and muscular frame while chatting about everything from the rigorous training for his upcoming movie to his next challenge.

Highlights from Mr Kitsch's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Men's Health UK!

On how he trained for his role in 'John Carter':
"Well, 85% of it was about eating right. I was taking in about 400 g of protein a day, along with brown rice and oatmeal – a lot of slow burning complex carbs. I was waking up at 4:30 AM every day, downstairs by 4:33 AM and hitting the weights for 15 min. A lot of free range stuff, range of motion. And a lot of band work, a lot of curls to the shoulders, rotator cuffs, rear delts... Every day was something different."

On where he gets his determination:
"I think from the struggle. Going through difficult moments like being homeless. Having done that, now if I throw my hat into the ring for something, I'm f***ing all in. I just focus. The worst feeling in the world is doing something and people thinking, 'Ah, he could've worked harder.'"

On his next challenge:
"Well, there's Savages [incredibly bloody Oliver Stone kidnap-revenge movie out in September], I have some amazing kills in that movie. So I go from John Carter to that. I like to keep throwing curve balls so you don't know what I'm going to do next. My agent freaks out because I'm so picky. But you have to be. It takes too much out of you not to love what you do."
