Rap entertainer Snoop Dogg was spared prison time after pleading no contest to gun and drug charges in court yesterday (April 11).
According to AP reports, "the 35-year-old was given five years of probation and ordered 800 hours of community service instead of jail by a California judge."
Stemming from incidents occurring late last year, rap star Snoop Dogg was charged Tuesday (April 10) with gun possession by a convicted felon and a marijuana-related drug charge, prosecutors announced.
The 35-year-old, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, is scheduled to be arraigned on the two felony counts this morning (April 11). The arraignment is to take place in a Pasadena Superior Court, according to Los Angeles County district attorney's office spokeswoman Jane Robison.
The United Kingdom is showing no love to rap entertainer Snoop Doggy Dog. The UK leg of the P Diddy/Snoop Dogg tour has been cancelled due to the refusal to give Snoop a visa. The shows were called off after "credible behind the scenes efforts were made, to no avail, to reverse the decision,” a tour spokesperson said.
Snoop Dogg had hoped the government would reconsider his visa, after he said he was promoting a message of non-violence to children and would make a donation to an anti-violence charity.
