As a follow-up to the Elisabeth Hasselbeck story we ran yesterday, there have been some developments in the relationship between The View and Rosie O’Donnell. The outspoken co-host was scheduled to depart from the show on June 22nd, but now she will not return “after the Memorial Day weekend,” according to ABC’s website.
Regarding the early departure, Brian Frons, ABC’s daytime television group president, said that the decision was all Rosie. “We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave,” Mr. Frons said. “Therefore we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to ‘The View’ and wish her well.”

The CBS show “The View” has been especially entertaining as of late. First Star Jones announces her departure from the show a few days early, to the obvious surprise of Barbara Walters.
