She’s the first thing many folks wake up to in the morning, but Robin Roberts will be taking an extended absence from her “Good Morning America” duties to deal with health issues.
According to a report, the beloved host is gearing up for a bone marrow transplant to fight off her myelodysplastic syndrome, beginning in late August or early September.
Roberts made the announcement via satellite, noting her joy over being the #1 morning show and beating out NBC’s “Today”- “It’s fascinating-slash-scary how to prepare yourself for something like this. The run that we’ve had has truly energized me. It’s pretty good medicine, I gotta say!”
During her leave, Robin will be replaced by Barbara Walters, Katie Couric, Diane Sawyer, Kelly Ripa, and ladies from “The View.”
