OJ Simpson Loses His “Hypothetical” Murder Mystery

Posted Thursday August 2, 2007 12:24 PM GMT

A federal judge in Miami recently awarded the Goldman family the rights to the publication and distribution of the well known murder mystery If I Did It, the ”hypothetical” account of what happened on that night that OJ was accused of brutally murdering ex-wife Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman.

This is the end of a chapter in the Simpson saga that was closely covered by the Gossip Girls several months ago when the story first leaked about the new book. The public outrage over the idea that OJ might profit from “blood money” was so strong that, after trying to defend the decision for two days, the publishing house pulled the book and fired the editor in charge of the project.

When Simpson was asked about yesterday’s decision, he was quick to try and turn the tables on the Goldman family. "I find it sort of hypocritical that they told everybody in America to boycott the book: It was 'immoral,' it was 'blood money.' But we now see it wasn't 'blood money' if they got the money."

Lawyers for the Goldman family revealed that they are planning on using the proceeds generated by the book to help satisfy the $33.5 million dollar penalty that was given to Simpson in the civil lawsuit that the Goldman’s won in 1997.

Meanwhile, Simpson continues to proclaim his innocence and, when asked about the book, he explained, "Because I didn't do it... I will not justify the evidence they had. I read what he wrote, and I saw all of these major holes, all of these impossible things. All of these other parts of the book I would correct, but I told myself, 'If I correct this, there are going to be people out there that say, 'Oh, look how accurate this is,' right?"
