There's nothing like a night at the clubs to start the week off on the right foot. And on Monday night/Tuesday morning, Butter was the place to be in NYC.

The Big Apple hotspot saw a slew of celebrities breeze through the doors - out for a night full of fun. Leading the charge was Heroes hottie Hayden Panettiere, who arrived with ever-so-hot musician Ne-Yo on her arm.

Singer/songwriter Neyo had plenty to be thankful for earlier this week, as he celebrated his 25th birthday in style at the swank Tribeca Rooftop in NYC.

The Las Vegas native, whose credits include writing top hits for Beyoncé, Rihanna and Whitney Houston, among others, enjoyed a guest list that included Jay-Z, LL Cool J, Janet Jackson, and Ray J.

It’s that time of the year again. Time for the 2007 American Music Awards, that is. And this year there are plenty of categories embroiled in fierce competition.

According to the list of nominees, Beyonce, Justin Timerlake, Chris Daughtry, and Linkin Park will be competing in three categories each, while Akon, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Young Jeezy, T.I., and Carrie Underwood each have two chances to take home an award.

Could it be? Are we actually getting a release date for the new Britney Spears album? According to her label, Jive Records, the answer is ‘yes.’ And her new single is already hitting the airwaves.

“Gimme More” is the lead track from Brit’s new album, which will be released November 13th… just in time for Thanksgiving. The single was officially premiered last night on New York City radio station Z-100’s Website.

When you’re arguably the hottest pop singer in the world, songwriters fall all over themselves to be able to work with you. And Britney Spears may have let all of that flattery give her an ego that has caused some pretty serious professional blunders.

For instance, remember that song “Umbrella?” Of course you do, it just played on your radio about five minutes ago. Well, according to Tricky Stewart, the song’s creator, Brit was offered the song (which eventually spent all kinds of time at #1 in a myriad of countries) and never got back to him.

It was a night to remember… the annual Black Entertainment Television Awards honors the celebrities making waves in the black community, and this year’s installment was chock full of good stuff.

The show kicked off with Jennifer Holliday and Jennifer Hudson doing “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going,” as a duet. The performance bridged the gap between Broadway and Silver Screen.

In the day of interactive media, Britney Spears is reaching out to her fans and asking them for their opinions. For her upcoming album, Brit wants her loyal supporters to choose the title.

If you’re a member of the Britney Spears fan club, you can log onto her website and cast your vote for her new album’s title (if you’re not a member, it’ll cost you $25 to join). In the post, “You’ll never see it my way because you’re not me,” Spears appeals to her “most die-hard fans” to help her name the record.

Reports of excessive demands and a supposedly jealous boss have led to rumors that Jay-Z may be fired as CEO of Def Jam records.

The superstar rapper/businessman has worked two years for L.A. Reid, chairman of Island/Def Jam, and Jay-Z’s contract is up for renewal.

The company has done well since Jay-Z’s involvement began, due to his huge drawing power of young talent, like Rihanna and Ne-Yo. Also, the rapper is no longer retired and is making money for the company as an artist.

Reality check: most of the songs you hear on pop radio aren’t written by the artists singing them. I’ll let the shock wear off before telling you that Britney Spears may not be privy to R&B songwriter Ne-yo’s new songs for her.

Spear’s stint in rehab after a widely publicized breakdown may prove to be detrimental to her “comeback” album’s chances. The pop singer failed to show up to four scheduled studio sessions with Ne-yo. Originally, Ne-yo said he would forgive and forget, but now it looks like Pussycat Doll’s frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger may be the lucky girl to get the songs.

Another awards show has come and gone. Last night, the Soul Train Awards saw top honors bestowed upon Mary J Blige and Jamie Foxx.

Blige picked up the award for best R&B/soul album by a female artist for The Breakthrough, while Foxx was chosen for the male award for his album Unpredictable.

Disappointingly for show producers, neither turned up to collect their awards at the ceremony held in Pasadena, California, on Saturday.
