In what was a surprise to many, comedy "Little Miss Sunshine" was the best movie winner at a typically influential awards ceremony in Hollywood yesterday, making the low-budget film a formidable contender heading into the Oscar race.

The movie was named best picture by the Producers Guild of America, an association of film and television producers whose choices are often echoed at the U.S. film industry's top honors, the Academy Awards.

The other contenders for the guild's feature honors were cultural drama "Babel," crime thriller "The Departed," musical "Dreamgirls" and "The Queen," an inside look royal Brits.

Other awards given out by the Producers Guild, "Cars" was named the year's best animated movie and HBO's "Elizabeth I" was named best made for television film. ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" was named best TV drama series and NBC's "The Office" best TV comedy series. The non-fiction TV award went to CBS' "60 Minutes" and the award for best variety TV show went to HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher."

When I saw the trailer for Kidnapped on TV I wasn't sure if I'd actually watch the show. I think I've changed my mind. I just watched the premiere of the series at MSN and it hooked me and reeled me in. Here's the plot:

The unthinkable has become a reality for Ellie and Conrad Cain - their fifteen-year-old son, Leo, has been kidnapped. Is this shocking crime a business vendetta? Or is it something more personal? Whatever the reason, a child's life hangs in the balance and the clock is ticking. Nothing is what it seems as the Cain family begins to unravel from the inside out. Desperate to reclaim their son, they enlist the help of an expert named Knapp who is known for his dangerous, yet effective, high-profile rescues. Now Ellie and Conrad must avoid police interference, try to keep the kidnappers in line and deal with increasing suspicions towards each other.

The series premieres on NBC at 10pm ET on September 20, 2006, but you can see it here today.. online for free.

The New York Post is reporting that Donald Trump has fired his icy blonde sidekick, Carolyn Kepcher. She was not only a co-star of his NBC reality series 'The Apprentice' she was COO of the Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff, NY.

Supposedly the TV role had gone to her head and she was no longer fulfilling her obligations to Trump. Guess the Donald couldn't handle a little bit of competition for face time. Anyone want to hire a 37-year-old married mother of two? She's looking for a job.

Fun, flirty, trite and sweet. Hollywood's badboy meets West Virginia's finest.. falls in love and wants her "goodness" to rub off on him. He buys a farm, and well you know the rest - right?

The major reviews of Win a Date with Tad Hamiliton sort of sucked. But, I the believer in all good movies wanted to see it anyway. It was cute, I won't deny that. It was trite, of course it would be. The triumph of the good guy was a no brainer. Hmm, why did I like this movie? Oh yea, because it was cute :) and the music was good! Oh, and because Josh Duhamel is hot! (He's half the reason why I watch Las Vegas on NBC.) Of course you know I can't stand Kate Bosworth, you know.. Orlando Bloom's fiance. Yes, I said fiance. That's the rumor I hear anyway.

First they wanted Britney, now they'll just take what they can get: Paris Hilton.

It seems Miss Hilton will be playing a gold digger in an upcoming episode of Las Vegas which will are on February 2nd on NBC. [via NYP]

Do you watch Las Vegas? I do sometimes, but I don't know I guess I can only take so much from it as the story lines tend to be a bit weak. Ironically, they did the "socialite sisters" routine about 6 episodes ago, I swear it was a spin off on the Hilton Sisters but they were cast as Asian party girls trying to knock off their father. They were modeling, partying, doing a music video and basically being just like Paris & Nicky Hilton.

Since we know Paris can't really act, we know they're tossing her into the show for some eye candy and name dropping.. but hey whatever works.
