Box Office: "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" Scores HUGE Opening Weekend
Vampires have once again reigned supreme with fans, as “Breaking Dawn Part 2” is set to emerge victorious at the box office over the weekend of November 16-18, 2012.
The final installment of the “Twilight” franchise had no trouble sinking its teeth into the competition while collecting an estimated $71.2 million on Friday and another $41.8 million on Saturday, with the Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart fronted flick expected to take in $141.3 million for its debut weekend.
Dropping into runner-up status after a record breaking opening last weekend was “Skyfall,” as the Daniel Craig starring “007” production raked in a respectable $12.3 million on Friday and $17.7 million on Saturday with second weekend earnings estimated at $41.5 million.
Filling out the top five at the box office in earmarked earnings are the new Daniel Day Lewis historical production “Lincoln” ($21.0 million) in third, followed by Disney’s animated tale “Wreck-It Ralph” ($18.3 million) in fourth and the Denzel Washington led drama “Flight” ($8.6 million) in fifth.
