Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino's DWTS Dedication

Continuing to show improvements, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino has displayed a surprising focus as he competes for the "Dancing with the Stars" crown.

Crediting his willingness to give up partying - as "The Situation" canceled a Vegas hosting gig in lieu of dance practice - a Life and Style source tells, "He hasn't been partying at all because of the show. He knows he needs to rehearse for hours and does want to do well. The other day, they rehearsed from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m... after he finished a five hour photoshoot."

Another Life & Style insider adds, "He would rather bail on an appearance than do poorly on TV again."

Making it easier to not get distracted, Situation's dance partner Karina Smirnoff is currently in a relationship and has made it clear that no romance is going to happen.

"He knows she has a boyfriend and she's just not really interested in him like that," the source tells. "She does like him a lot and thinks he's charming."
