He’s had a killer run as one of the world’s most successful and celebrated swimmers, and now Michael Phelps is looking forward to bringing his competitive career to a close.
The 16-time Olympic medal winner announced that the 2012 London Games will be his last time swimming in the Olympics.
Michael and his mother Debbie appeared on “60 Minutes” to share the news, although it seems there’s still some strife over the decision.
Debbie began, "C'mon Michael just a 50 freestyle. I've never been [to Brazil] before,” referring to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.”
Michael fired back, "We'll go watch. Once I retire, I'm retiring. I'm done."
