He was involved in a single car accident yesterday evening, and according to the police, Mel Gibson is doing fine and wasn’t drinking at the time of the incident.
The official California Highway Patrol report states, "Mel Gibson was alone and driving southbound on Malibu Canyon Road south of the tunnel. For unknown reasons, Mr. Gibson steered his car to the right and struck the rock hillside."
Things just aren’t going his way these days, and the latest drama to befall Mel Gibson is a single car accident that occurred yesterday (August 15).
The “Lethal Weapon” actor lost control of his vehicle around 8:35pm in Malibu, California and ran into a hillside on Malibu Canyon Road.
We all remember when Mel Gibson called his babysitter a “wetback” on his notorious recorded phone conversations with Oksana Grigorieva- but now the woman won’t be able to testify against Gibson because she passed away.
According to Radar, the babysitter had been fighting off stage four cancer and finally succumbed to the illness over the weekend.

Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, told TMZ that investigators are “nearing the end of the investigation. The goal is turning the case over two weeks from today.”
In the ongoing saga of Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva, it is being reported that both will be cleared in the Department of Children and Family Services investigation.
Radar Online is reporting that, while the investigation is still going strong, there is hope that it could be closed within two weeks.
New details keep emerging regarding the violent relationship between Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva, and the latest update is that Mel apologized for hitting Oksana in an email the following day.
The “Braveheart” actor wrote, “Could you please call me. I want to tell you how unspeakably sorry I am” in an email dated January 7 at 9:50am.
The day after he called Oksana Grigorieva 30 times, Mel Gibson found himself to have lost his voice.
On February 20th, the “What Women Want” star left a message for his ex-girlfriend saying, “I haven’t got a voice left.”
They dated for three years and even had a daughter together, but when Mel Gibson made 30 irate and out-of-control phone calls to Oksana Grigorieva in a single night, she walked out on him.
