With all of the trouble going on in Libya these days, Muammar Qaddafi’s name has been frequently in the press- and Mariah Carey just realized that she was hired to sing for his son back in 2006.
The “Always Be My Baby” songstress told press she is horrified that she took $1 million to sing four songs at a Caribbean party thrown by the Libyan leader.
She explained, "I was naive and unaware of who I was booked to perform for. I feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess."
"Ultimately we as artists are to be held accountable. Going forward, this is a lesson for all artists to learn from. We need to be more aware and take more responsibility regardless of who books our shows."
