Marc Jacobs didn’t surprise anyone with neon colors, big shouldered models, huge 80’s hair for his 2009 fall collection. “I was thinking about the good old days in New York when getting dressed up was such a joy,” told Jacobs after the show. Although he did surprise people with slashing the guest list, no big performance, and no huge celebs.

The show began with a model down the catwalk in a gray cardigan sweater and charcoal trousers, which was part kilt. There were girly party dresses with swift metallic leathers, floral brocades, full skirts, bustier tops, high-waisted jeans, the brightest jackets you’ve ever seen, and hooded coats. Although it was a lot of black, much of this fun fashion colors made up for it.

Marc Jacobs tried hinting that more designers might be gearing up for the famous Louis Vuitton and now he just proved us right. "I've kind of warned everybody up there [at LV] that I think they've gotten a little too into this idea ," Jacobs said about the development just last month. "I'm glad that everybody gets behind it, but what they don't realize is that I do it at a pace that maintains the brand's integrity and seems really right, and I think that sometimes everybody loves a good idea so much that they kind of go too far and it kind of kills it."

When Marc Jacobs teamed up with the fashion world of Louis Vuitton, everyone knew it was going to go above and beyond the world of fashion. The collection had two very separate and distinct styles. Marc Jacobs’ off the wall designs combined beautifully with Vuitton’s high fashion, making Paris the perfect place to show off the amazing line.

The line was full of inspirations from a 40’s style, to an African feel, to even an Asian look. “We didn’t look at a single specific reference,” he stated prior to the big show. “It’s just what we think of all this. I really believe more is just right.” And he did indeed keep it more. Outfits were heavy with loads of accessories, feathers, sparkles, textures, fabrics, beads and the list of lists goes on and on. Jacobs’ did not believe in the phrase, “less is more” for this show.

Rei Kawakubo says she was contemplating “Exactly what is black for the future?” while designing her Spring collection. They are known for bringing black into our world in the 80’s era and they still today haven’t left our side. From the 80’s to the future, Comme des Garçons delivered their idea. In past numerous seasons, she has caused an epidemic of bright bold colors and unique craftsmanship that have had Marc Jacobs even talking.

Back to black, the designer used shapely pieces with lots of bulk. Cut outs with a weird twist walked down the runway that turned heads and people couldn’t help to like the bizarre fashions. Poufy tops, swaddled skirts and dresses were worn with giant overtaking blonde wigs. Soccer ball like pieces made with vinyl leather made eyes pop.
