Frankie Sandford Covers Glamour UK May 2012
Opening up about her struggles in life, Frankie Sandford is featured on the cover of the May 2012 issue of Glamour UK magazine.
The 23-year-old English pop and R&B singer-songwriter posed for the Chris Craymor shot spread while opening up about her battle with depression.
Highlights from Miss Sandford's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Glamour UK!
On silently struggling with depression and panic attacks for eight years:
"I felt that I was worthless, that I was ugly, that I didn't deserve anything. I thought people would think, 'What have you got to be depressed about?'"
On getting support from the hospital staff and other patients:
"A doctor told me it's like having asthma: it's something you have, it's not going to go away. That made me feel better. There was no one point where I was 'better', but I noticed I started to be creative again, which I hadn't been in years."
On her bandmates' reaction to her personal struggles:
"They were like, 'Why didn't you tell us?' I'd got so good at covering it up, I didn't confide in anyone."
On her advice for other people who might be suffering with depression:
"It's important that you talk to someone as soon as possible. Get help and advice from your GP, a friend or a parent."
