She was a pioneer for African American women in the entertainment industry and earlier today (May 14) Lena Horne was laid to rest in New York City.
The legendary jazz singer and actress was remembered during the funeral service at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, with thousands of family, friends, and fans coming out for the occasion.
Actress Jenny Lumet told press, “Lena was so many ideas existing all at the same time in the same space and they were all conflicting and they were all true.”
"I've tried to sum her up and I can't sum her up; summing up really means it's over and I think that she's not over and that she's quite infinite."
