As of 12:05am this morning, actor Kiefer Sutherland has been released from jail, after serving 48 days for his second DUI conviction.
Originally, the “Lost Boys” star was scheduled to divide his sentence into two segments, serving half his sentence now, and half after his show, 24, goes on hiatus this summer. But with the writers’ strike ongoing, he decided to do it all in one shot.
It's off to the big house for Kiefer Sutherland, as the "24" actor checked into jail on Wednesday to begin a 48-day sentence for his recent DUI arrest.
According to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, the 40-year-old TV star will be staying in a cell by himself at the jail in Glendale, California - as he arrived at 5:46 pm to begin the booking process.
With all of the celebrity legal woes this year, it looks like the most promising careers are in the law profession. And Kiefer Sutherland is hoping that his high-priced lawyer will be able to get him the least amount of jail time possible.
According to press, the 24 actor is hoping for a split sentence, dividing his proposed 48 days in jail into two segments. The first eighteen days of his sentence he hopes to serve at the end of December/beginning of January, so as not to interrupt the filming schedule of his hit show.
As reported yesterday by the Gossip Girls, there's been an unlikely addition to the Hollywood DUI club, and his name is Kiefer Sutherland. The 24 star joined the ranks of Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton early Tuesday morning when he was pulled over by police.
The Lost Boys star reportedly made an illegal U-turn while driving in West Hollywood at about 1 in the morning, according to police reports. He was pulled over and given a sobriety test which he apparently failed miserably.
