Katie Couric Happily Returns to ABC

After announcing her departure from CBS News, Katie Couric has found a new home as host of a new syndicated talk show on ABC.

“I’m very happy to be returning to the network where I began my career as a desk assistant in 1979," Katie told press in a statement on Monday (June 6).

Miss Couric continued, "It is tremendously exciting to have the creative freedom to develop my own show with Anne Sweeney, the Disney/ABC TV Group and Jeff [Zucker] and to contribute to such a vibrant, innovative news division."

The yet-to-be-titled daytime show is set to launch in September 2012.
