Judi Dench: I'm Losing My Eyesight

She’s had a long and distinguished career, but Judi Dench is finding that growing older has presented her with new challenges.

The 77-year-old Oscar winner confessed that she has to have her scripts read to her due to her declining eyesight.

"I can't read scripts any more because of the trouble with my eyes. And so somebody comes in and reads them to me, like telling me a story."

Judi also noted that her macular degeneration has required medical treatments that seem to have halted the decline. “They had to do these injections and I think it's arrested. As long as there is a possibility of working, I'm not going to retire. If I retire, nothing will work any more, and it's hard enough as it is."

"The most distressing thing is in a restaurant in the evening, I can't see the person I'm having dinner with.”
