Marking her first novel since the "Harry Potter" series, the cover to JK Rowling's latest literary work "The Casual Vacancy" has just been released by publisher Little, Brown and Company.
Delving into adult fiction, the 46-year-old British novelist seems to be shying away from wizards and wands, although the simple cover marked with a checked ballot against a red background doesn't provide as much of a visual appeal as the covers of her boy wizard-based books.
She made millions from her “Harry Potter” franchise, and now J.K. Rowling is taking a stab at an older audience with her new novel.

There’s the Emmys, the Oscars, the Golden Globes… but none of those compare to the UK Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards. It’s the first year for the show in Britain, and they’ve honored one of their own, Emma Watson, as Best Movie Actress.
The ExCel arena in London was the scene of the awards show this past Saturday, which saw Watson fend off the likes of Dakota Fanning, Keira Knightley and Cameron Diaz to win the accolade. As she accepted the award, the Harry Potter actress exclaimed, "This is so cool. I'm so thrilled."
With the onset of yet another Harry Potter opening, the usually shy JK Rowling decided to ham it up for the press this time.
