Jennifer Aniston's Dad "Surprised" With Engagement News

The world learned today (August 13) that Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are getting married and the actress' father apparently found out the news along with the rest of us.

John Aniston said he was shocked to hear the information telling Celebuzz, "It's the first I've heard about it. It's a surprise to me. I’ll have to look online."

Once news broke that the 41-year-old bypassed the tradition of asking the father for his daughter's hand, the former "Friends" star's publicist says the 79-year-old actor was informed.

"John did know about the engagement but did not know when we would go public with it, so when he was caught off guard on the phone, he didn’t want to be tricked, so he pretended not to know,”

As previously reported by GossipCenter, Theroux proposed on his birthday after 15 months of dating. The Hollywood couple fell in love after meeting each other on the set of "Wanderlust."
