Jared Leto Pays Tribute to Kurt Cobain
Paying homage to the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, Jared Leto posted a tribute on his blog yesterday (April 5) on what marked the 17th anniversary of his passing.
The video featured the "30 Seconds to Mars" singer dressed up from head-to-toe like Cobain and performing acoustic covers of Nirvana's tracks such as "Pennyroyal Tea."
Jared also posted a lengthy tribute to the site, in which he explained why he filmed the video. "I heard today (April 5) was the day Kurt passed away 17 years ago," he wrote. "Can’t believe it’s been that long. So grateful for his contribution and inspiration. Not sure I’d be doing this if it weren’t for him."
Leto added, "I shot a short piece of film when I heard they were making a film celebrating his life. I made it to explore the character and explore creative possibilities. I never sent it to the studio or to anyone but thought I’d share it now."
