Finding Nemo 3D
With a full slate of newly released big screen offerings to choose from, the box office was quite the competitive arena - though once again underperforming - over the weekend of September 21-23, 2012.
Among the just-debuted films locked in a three-way tie for first place is the Jennifer Lawrence starring horror/thriller "House At The End Of The Street," which brought in $4.6 million on Friday and another $5.4 million on Saturday with a projected three day total of $13.2 million.
Offering a boost to what's been a dismal month for movie-makers, a pair of newly released films are helping breathe a little life back into the box office to begin the weekend of September 14-16, 2012.
Grasping ahold of the top spot with a solid opening day showing is "Resident Evil: Retribution," as the Milla Jovovich starring action/sci-fi franchise's latest installment nabbed an estimated $8.8 million on Friday while positioned to wind up with a respectable $23 million debut weekend take.
After "Lion King" fared so well upon returning to the big screen, more and more past animated classics are following suit.
On that note, the latest to ready to capture the hearts of audiences is "Finding Nemo" - with the picture's 3D trailer having just hit the web.
