Fergie Covers Self July 2012

Posted Tuesday June 19, 2012 9:40 AM GMT

Bringing her fun and flirty nature to the forefront, Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson was chosen to grace the cover of the July 2012 issue of Self magazine.

The 37-year-old Black Eyed Peas frontwoman showed off her tight tummy in a 3.1 Phillip Lim jacket, Michi bra and Dylan George shorts for the Russell James shot front page while dishing about everything from how she gets her rock-hard abs to her keys to a happy life.

Highlights from Fergie's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Self!

On getting soulful:
"I needed to take a break from performing, and from the Peas, to be happy. I craved female time, and time with my husband to feed my soul. My life now is about being balanced. I'm passionate about work and working out, seeing friends and family, and letting my hair down once in a while."

On her desire to someday start a family with husband Josh Duhamel:
"I'm excited to have a child with Josh. He'll be an amazing dad."

On her strong faith:
"On Saturday nights, we like going to mass, then dinner. It feeds our spiritual side, and it's great to hear Josh sing in church—he's a great singer. Then we go out and have a really nice wine, like all good Catholics."

On talking smack with the guys:
"Working out with Josh inspires me, but he is competitive. And loud! So are the Peas. Men scream and go crazy in the gym. I'm a silent workout partner, but when my adrenaline gets up, I talk trash. I'll wait, and when Josh does something embarrassing, I'll throw a jab! I used to yell and curse in the gym, but now I'm looking for a more healthy, positive feeling."

On ageing gracefully:
"I've learned to be more accepting of myself. I'm 37, not 18, and I've got the lines to prove it. I try to remind myself that a girl can have it all, just not all at once."

On her secret energy source:
"Josh turned me on to juicing, and now I do it when I wake up and between meals. The energy it gives me is amazing—I hardly need caffeine anymore. We blend kale, spinach, broccoli and celery with a banana, an apple and a pear. We have two Vitamixes going at once! But I'm only really strict about what I eat when I know I have to be in a bathing suit."
