Enjoying some time in New York City, Cameron Diaz was spotted at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival yesterday (April 21).
The “Charlie’s Angels” chick was in the house for the opening night premiere of her new flick “Shrek Forever After” at the Ziegfeld Theatre.

As we all know, many movies are ironically cast at the outset simply to showcase an actor’s diversity or to make some larger point. Examples in this league include Charlize Theron as a grotesque killer in Monster and Brad Pitt as a slummy, badass in Fight Club. However, some movies don’t reveal their ironies until many months or even years after an initial release. These cases are not only intriguing on their face value, but they sometimes make it seem like the movie itself has a role in determining the actor’s fate.
Below is a list of the top 10 most ironically cast movies, specific to those ironies realized only in hindsight, of all time. Note: Not listed in any particular order.
#1 Elizabeth Berkley - Showgirls
Basic Premise:
Showgirls chronicles the rise of aspiring dancer Nomi Malone (Berkley) as she claws her way to the top of the showgirl ladder. After drifting into Vegas and working at some fairly undesirable establishments, Nomi scores a big audition. A few backstabs later, she’s a bonafide headliner. But in the end, she realizes that showgirl stardom may not be worth the questionable morals she has developed, so she heads to Hollywood where good morals and big success await her!
The Irony: Aside from the obvious irony of Saved by the Bell good girl Jessie Spano taking to the stripper pole, the real twist on this story is the parallel between Nomi and Ms. Berkley. While Nomi Malone achieves major success in Vegas and is presumably on her way to the success in Hollywood, the film demolished Ms. Berkley’s own aspirations: her acting career has yet to recover.
Eddie Murphy is having a stellar week. He just won a Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice award for his role as “Donkey” in “Shrek The Third” and last night he celebrated his 47th birthday.
The shindig took place at the uber-celebrity-friendly STK Restaurant in Los Angeles, California where the “Coming to America” actor was surrounded by family and friends.
As a depressing follow up to the Gossip Girls story on Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds’ romantic Bora Bora beachfront wedding, the newlywed couple is getting divorced.
And they won’t have to go through a whole legal ordeal, as the island ceremony was merely symbolic, and was never officially documented.
Besides beginning a whole new year on New Year’s Day, Eddie Murphy and his fiancé Tracey Edmonds began a marriage, exchanging vows in a private ceremony.
Ever since they got engaged this past July, we’ve been wondering when they’d say, “I do.” And it turns out they snuck off to a private island off the coast of Bora Bora and invited 25 of their closest friends and family for the occasion.
After spending the past few months publicly feuding with "deadbeat dad" Eddie Murphy, Melanie Brown has turned things around and is embracing a positive outlook on life.
The Spice Girl was all smiles as she made her debut on the hit ABC show "Dancing With The Stars" last night. Wearing a leopard-print ensemble, Mel B "cha-cha-cha'd her way to an impressive 24 as she shook her curvy, new-mom body with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy."
The next installment of drama surrounding Eddie Murphy and Mel B’s past relationship involves another lawsuit. However, this time it's Eddie suing Mel, claiming extortion and defamation.
The heart of the argument revolves around a difference of opinions concerning Eddie’s legal responsibilities to the child he fathered, as well as how Mel is releasing information to the media regarding the situation.
He gets the exclusive interviews with whomever he pleases, and last night Larry King talked candidly with Spice Girl Melanie Brown.
With the new baby, new marriage, and Eddie Murphy’s constant dissing, Mel had a few things to get off of her chest. And she took full advantage of her platform on Larry King Live last night.
