Shooting straight to the top of the pack upon it's opening weekend of release, "Real Steel" knocked out the competition for a clear-cut first place finish at the box office over the weekend of October 7-9, 2011.
The Hugh Jackman starring sci-fi/drama picture raked in $8.5 million on Friday and $12 million on Saturday while totaling for an expected $29 million weekend total.
Making for one of the tightest races in recent memory, a trifecta of films found themselves vying for the top spot at the box office over the weekend of September 30-October 2, 2011.
Emerging atop the pack was the Warner Bros. "Dolphin Tale," as the family film raked in $3.4 million on Friday and $6.5 million on Saturday en route to an estimated weekend take of $14.2 million.
Capitalizing on a late surge to retain its perch above the pack, "Lion King 3D" roared its way to a second straight top place finish at the box office over the weekend of September 23-25, 2011.
The Disney classic started out with $6 million on Friday while churning out an impressive $9.2 million Saturday en route to an expected $22.1 million weekend total.
