David Ritchie
A visit from the Malawi child welfare services to Madonna's London pad has been a long time coming. But after several delays, Malawi representative Simon Chisale was spotted leaving the Queen of Pop's home this past Wednesday.
As previously reported by the Gossip Girls, a positive review of the Ray of Light singer's home is crucial to her securing full custody of 26-month-old adopted child, David Banda. And with several prior visits canceled for political reasons, Madge is sure to be excited in moving the process forward.
Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie are preparing for a house visit from a Malawian court appointed official. The director of Malawi's child welfare services, Penston Kilembe, said financial and administrative difficulties had prevented him from traveling to London for an earlier scheduled visit, but he should arrive no later than September 7th.
This is the second time that Madonna has prepared for the court appointed visit that is to determine if she can legally adopt David Banda. As previously reported, Madonna’s attempts to adopt the young boy ran into trouble when it became public knowledge that the boy’s father was still alive and living in Malawi.
In an attempt to jump off the bandwagon that left the station last year, Morrissey took advantage of an event he was participating at for PETA on July 9th to verbally trash Madonna. His comments were targeted towards recent attempts by Madonna to adopt David Banda from Malawi.
Although Madonna has received a lot of criticism throughout her quest to adopt David, Morrissey’s comments appear to have hit a new low. His declaration that “I wouldn’t be surprised if she made that African boy she adopted into a coat and wore him for 15 minutes, then threw it away,” touched off a heated response from the Madonna camp.
Madonna and Guy Ritchie are getting a live-in guest for the next few days. Penston Kilembe, head of the child welfare services in Malawi, is visiting Madonna’s London abode to conduct a “home study” assessment in regards to the potential adoption of David Banda.
The purpose of the assessment is for Mr. Kilembe to gather information that will help the Malawi child services decide whether or not to allow Madonna to adopt David. The two primary concerns the welfare services has are if David is comfortable with his new family, and whether or not the excessive media coverage is negatively affecting David’s development.
Madonna finally got the chance to meet her adopted son's father for the first time in Malawi on Tuesday (April 17th).
According to reports from People, the pop superstar had tears in her eyes as Yohane, 32, saw his son. Madonna and her director husband Guy Ritchie gained temporary custody of the boy, David Banda, last October.
Madonna made a return trip to Malawi today (April 16th) to continue her charity work in the impoverished southern African country. Meanwhile, rumors that the pop songstress was visiting the country to find a sister for her newly adopted son, David Banda, have been refuted by the head of a Malawian orphanage as well as Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg.
Rosenberg said that her client was visiting to continue her work with her Raising Malawi organization and denied speculation of another adoption.

I can't help but do this, come on and sing with me.
Remember George Michael's "Let's Talk About Sex," song? Well sing the following to the tune...
Let's talk about my baby,
Let's talk about me me me,
Let's talk about all the good things that I do,
and forget the rest.
Let's talk about me...
Yea, I know it's kind of lame. I'm a better songwriter than Kevin Federline though, yo.
Anyway, this post was supposed to be about Madonna and her clan arriving at New York's JFK airport from London. She brought LLL & RR along for good PR. That's Lourdes "Lola" Leon and Rocco Ritchie along for good public relations. She's got a whirlwind of a schedule and you'll be seeing her on all the major outlets this week. Lucky us! At least the adorable little David is with her, so it will be must see tv. Anyone know of the status of all of the Malawi controversy?
Shouldn't Lola and Rocco be in school?
BTW, I'm now officially calling David... David Banda Ritchie.
photos via splash - thanks guys, i love ya.
Leave the woman and her family alone!
By now you've all heard of the Madonna adoption controversy, so I'm not going to post all the details.. but rather I'm going to tell you what I think.
Madonna didn't adopt for selfishness or media attention. She truly fell in love with a beautiful baby boy and wanted to save his life. This child was abandoned in an orphanage and basically left for dead. The illnesses he has overcome and the poor start he's had so far would have only progressed to a very sad demise. I truly believe that she has her heart in the right place and David's best interest at heart. Sure she's controversial and well, Kabbalah isn't exactly mainstream.. but if you put all of that aside she's actually quite a good mother to her children, Lola and Rocco. I support Madonna and Guy Ritchie. I hope the legal mess in Malawi is dismissed by the courts and everyone can get on with their lives. She came to Malawi to help people and they are treating her as though she's a kidnapper. Don't they want people to help them? Is it wrong to want to save a kid's life? Whoever is the mastermind behind the war that's being waged against Madonna and the legal adoptions process that she's going through should be ashamed of themselves.
As Madonna said, "I beg all of those people to go to Africa and see what I saw and walk through those villages. … To see 8-year-olds in charge of households. To see mothers dying, with Kaposi sarcoma lesions all over their bodies. To see open sewages everywhere. To see what I saw. It is a state of emergency. As far as I'm concerned, the adoption laws have to be changed to suit that state of emergency. I think if everybody went there, they'd want to bring one of those children home with them and give them a better life."
"I did have my heart set on David. I did meet other children that I was open to adopting, so if it hadn't worked out with David, I would have considered any of those children a blessing."
"My goal is that I will give David an education and a chance for a better life. What a better way for David to go back and help his own people and help the Malawians and be a voice for his country than to first have a life?"
