David Letterman
More details from David Letterman and the extortion case have been made public - and there is even more behind it.
On Tuesday, arguments from an attorney for defendant Robert Halderman, the CBS producer accused of trying to blackmail the talk show host with details about his affairs with women he worked with, brought on new questions.
Out promoting her new album, Carrie Underwood was spotted in New York City arriving at the “Late Show with David Letterman” earlier today (November 2).
Looking cute and fall weather appropriate, the “Cowboy Casanova” singer donned jeans and animal print heels with a blue top underneath a gray puffy vest.
According to the latest reports, $2 million wasn’t all that made Joe Halderman blackmail David Letterman – it was jealousy, spilled a source.
Back in August, Halderman found the host and his girlfriend Stephanie Birkitt, who was also his assistant, kissing while in a car in the driveway of his home.
As details continue to become known about the affair between David Letterman and “Late Show” staffer Stephanie Birkitt, there are reportedly “trashy” love letters that are soon to be uncovered.
According to a report, Burkitt wrote Letterman a series of notes prior to and during their trysts. “It’s her musings about them. It’s trash,” said an inside source.
David Letterman announced on Thursday that his on-air comments would be all he was going to speak about in regards to the $2 million extortion plot against him, but the topic filled his CBS Late Show on Monday.
The New York Post is giving further details of what happened from the diary of the former Late Show staff member Stephanie Birkitt, who was identified as the head of the scandal.
It has been a whirlwind of drama for David Letterman these past few days, as news of his affairs and extortion have become public knowledge. And yesterday the “Late Show” host offered apologies to many people, including his wife Regina Lasko.
Letterman said, "She has been horribly hurt by my behavior, and when something happens like that, if you hurt a person and it's your responsibility, you try to fix it. And at that point, there's only two things that can happen: either you're going to make some progress and get it fixed, or you're going to fall short and perhaps not get it fixed, so let me tell you folks, I got my work cut out for me."
Ready to fight charges in court, CBS producer Joe Halderman entered a not guilty plea to charges of trying to extort $2 million from David Letterman.
The 52-year-old Halderman showed up in handcuffs at a Manhattan courthouse this afternoon after he threatened Letterman about going public with personal information regarding the talk show host's sexual relations with an employee.
As previously reported, David Letterman announced last night on “The Late Show” that he’d been the victim of a $2 million extortion scheme. And this morning new details about the case have emerged.
According to a report, the culprit is CBS News producer Robert “Joe” Halderman, who has been arrested and charged with attempted grand larceny.
It looks like John Travolta isn’t the only celeb being targeted by extortionists these days - David Letterman revealed last night that he’s been targeted by blackmailers as well.
During his “Late Show” broadcast, Letterman confessed that he’d had sexual relations with female members of his staff, and that someone tried to extort $2 million from him to keep the news under wraps.
Last week David Letterman made a lewd joke about Sarah Palin’s daughter Willow (14), and today the Governor of Alaska accepted the late night funnyman’s apology.
In a statement released this morning, Palin stated, "Of course, it's accepted on behalf of young women, like my daughters, who hope men who 'joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve.”
