Versace Heiress Battles Anorexia
Twenty-year-old Allegra Beck Versace, daughter to the famed designer Donatella Versace, is suffering from an eating disorder. Donatella talked to the press on Wednesday, giving a full report before the story was all rumors.
Donatella, along with Allegra’s father Paul Beck, told the media: "Our daughter, Allegra has been battling anorexia, a very serious disease for many years. She is receiving the best medical care possible to help overcome this illness and is responding well."
"As parents, we are doing our best to protect our daughter. However, due to numerous media reports, we want to let everyone know that we appreciate their concern for Allegra, and we ask that her privacy be respected at this time."
According to a spokesperson from the Italian fashion firm, “Allegra has been receiving treatment at home in the United States, unlike the many reports which state that she is in the hospital.”
Allegra isn’t just some young heiress waiting for her cut. Allegra has a very serious stake in her family’s company. Since her Uncle Gianni’s death and turning eighteen, Allegra has received fifty percent ownership of Versace.
Hopefully this young woman will be able to pull herself together for her own sake, along with the company’s.
