Steve Carell Throws Up a Block for Anne Hathaway

Yesterday was the big Italian premiere of “Get Smart” in Rome. And while Anne Hathaway and Steve Carell were all smiles, it seems there was a little bit of drama going on.

Given her recent breakup with incarcerated longtime ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri, the “Princess Diaries” hottie was understandably apprehensive when it came to facing the Italian press.

But never fear - “The Office” funnyman Steve Carell was all over the one reporter who ignored their wishes to keep personal issues out of the realm of allowed questions.

When asked, “Was the separation from your ex-boyfriend painful?” Anne remained silent and allowed Carell to take over.

He declared, "In my role of agent [for] Miss Hathaway, I would like to say that she does not answer questions relating to this subject."
