Sasha Cohen Returns to Skating

She hasn’t competed in professional skating in four years, ever since winning the bronze medal at the 2006 world championships, but Sasha Cohen is back in action as of this week.

The 25-year-old skating sensation took the ice for practice at the United States Figure Skating Championships yesterday (January 20) and everyone in the house stopped to take notice, including 15-year-old prodigy Christina Gao.

Gao told press, “I’ve looked up to her for so long, so it was really cool to be on the same ice with her. From the little I saw, she looked pretty good out there. It will be exciting to see what she can do.”

Hoping to make the Olympic team, Cohen explained, “It’s great to get on the ice. It felt good because I’d been doing some training in a cold arena by myself. It’s so much easier when you have the energy of everyone else. It felt very comfortable.”
