Roger Federer Makes Most of U.S. Open Downtime
While rain continues to push back the U.S. Open schedule, Roger Federer was spotted enjoying an outing with Mirka Vavrinec in New York City on Thursday (September 10).
The Swiss tennis ace and his lovely wife strolled about the Big Apple streets, getting relaxed before beating Sweden's Robin Soderling in four sets.
The win takes Federer into a semifinal matchup with Novak Djokovik, making it his 22nd consecutive semifinal in Grand Slam events.
"If you called me eight years ago and said, 'There will be a guy who comes along, and he'll be in 21 straight grand slam semi‑finals', well, I would be looking for a polite way to end the conversation as quickly as possible because I'd be talking to somebody out of their mind," Federer said. "It's just ridiculous. There is no other way to say it. You can't explain it to people, it's just absurd."
