Rihanna and Chris Brown Say No to No-Contact

Posted Friday June 26, 2009 3:36 PM GMT

Chris Brown was originally ordered to not go within 50 yards of Rihanna, but he and ex Rihanna want to do away with the no-contact clause.

“They think it’s unnecessary and ridiculous,” told a common friend of the protection order that was given at this week’s criminal proceeding.

As previously reported, Brown pled guilty to one count of felony assault that took place in February, leaving much to talk about and Rihanna bruised. “After [the proceeding], Ri and Chris talked on the phone for almost an hour and really worked at becoming friends. They’re sold now.”

But the two are unable to speak in public to one another. And with the BET awards in L.A. on Sunday, it will be interesting to see how close they get. The order of protection gives Brown flexibility at music-industry events, instructing that he cannot come within 10 yards of the Umbrella singer.

Although the two want to get rid of the strict orders, they are not looking to get back together. A friend says, “That’s 100% done. They aren’t looking to hook back up again. They’re both moving on and going their separate ways.”

Meanwhile, Brown has been busy in the studio and focusing on his career. The singer has worked on a comeback album which will have duets with Mary J. Blige and Keri Hilson. There is also a song called “Not My Fault,” about a female “singer” who got “caught up.” Coincidence?

Rihanna is also working on music, but having her fun. She has been attending premieres such as “Year One” and has been seen with Aubrey (Drake) Graham, LeBron James and Kanye West and has also been clubbing at Jay-Z’s 40/40.

Also in Rihanna’s career is CoverGirl, which has finally agreed to release a three-month-old ad campaign featuring the singer as its spokeswoman.
