Ricardo Montalban Passes Away at 88
In what's a saddening loss in the Hollywood community, Ricardo Montalban of Fantasy Island stardom passed away at the age of 88 in his Beverly Hills home on Wednesday (January 14).
"He was in peace," said Montalban's son-in-law Gilbert Smith, who added that the death was due to declining health as a result of aging. "He will be missed."
According to press reports, Montalban was born in Mexico City while partially educated in the U.S., beginning his career with small roles on Broadway. He later rose to fame as Roarke on Fantasy Island.
Preceding Montalban in death was his wife of 63 years, Gorgiana Young. "[She is] the only love of my life," Ricardo told press in 2004, four years before her passing.
