O.J. Simpson Runs Free
Here’s a shocker! The legal system totally let another celebrity slip through the cracks. This time it was former murder suspect, and current kidnapping/armed robbery suspect O.J. Simpson.
If you’ve been following this story, you know that the former NFL player is being charged with a grand total of 10 - count them - 10 felonies. And after producing $19,000 (the required 15% of his $125,000 bail amount) he is a free man once again.
Simpson had to agree not to have contact with any witnesses or co-defendants in the case before his lawyers negotiated the $125,000 bail amount with the District Attorney. At the ruling, Judge Joe M. Bonaventure told O.J., “There will be no direct contact, no indirect contact with anyone whatsoever. If you see them walking, you cross the street to the other side.”
Legal analyst and practicing lawyer David Z. Chesnoff says he was surprised by the judge’s ruling. “Did I think it would be higher? Yes. But in reality, it doesn’t matter if it’s $500,000. If he decides to run away, he decides to run away. But he’s had success in the criminal justice system. So he’s less likely to be afraid than anybody.”
