Nicole Kidman Speaks Up for Battered Women
Stepping out for a good cause, Nicole Kidman was busy fulfilling her UNIFEM Goodwill Ambassador duties with a trip to the United Nations headquarters on Tuesday (November 25).
The Academy Award-winning actress reportedly announced that over five million people have put their names on an Internet-based petition for the “Say No to Violence against Women” campaign.
“We thought that the more names we collected, the stronger our case to make ending violence against women a top priority for governments everywhere,” Kidman proudly proclaimed.
The Aussie actress, who has a new movie titled "Australia" hitting theaters tomorrow, added, “Well, the results are in. We’ve tallied the numbers from Bangkok and Tanzania, from Ecuador to Fiji, from Jordan to India. I am so delighted to announce that they have far, far, surpassed our goal.”
