Nelly Furtado Cleans Up At the Junos
Nelly Furtado was running around like crazy last night at the Juno Awards. Juno is the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy, by the way. The pop singer was both the host of the show and a scheduled performer.
But that isn’t what made the event memorable for Furtado. She ended up being the biggest winner of the evening, taking home trophies in all five categories in which she was nominated.
Probably the biggest deal for Furtado was winning BOTH album of the year (for “Loose) and single of the year (for “Promiscuous”). "I know, I'm quite obnoxious," joked Furtado to reporters backstage of her being omnipresent at the annual Canadian music awards.
Furtado also nabbed the Juno Fan Choice Award during last night's televised event at the Credit Union Centre in front of some 13,000 fans. Furtado said that last night's experience was completely different from 2001 when she first emerged as a star, picking up four Junos including best single for her breakthrough hit, I'm Like A Bird.
Congratulations Nelly!
