Naomi Watts' Sony Tropfest Appearance

Although she's still reeling from the loss of Heath Ledger, actress Naomi Watts was among those joining this year's 16 Tropfest finalists on the red carpet at Sydney's Domain on Sunday (February 17).

According to press reports, "In its 16th year, Tropfest is promoted as the world's largest short film festival, with finalists selected from a field of 600 entries from around the globe."

Dressed in denim jeans, boots and a short-sleeved blouse, Watts, who was presenting the Balance Water Women in Film Award, posed for the photographers on hand, but refused to talk to reporters as she made her way down the carpet.

Nonetheless, the event has already been deemed a success, with Tropfest creative director John Polson saying: "It is probably a little early to say, but this is probably one of the biggest if not the biggest (Tropfests) we've had."
