Mariah Carey Chats It Up at the Spirit Awards

Never one to shy away from the spotlight of an awards show, Mariah Carey headed out to the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday (February 21) for the 2009 Film Independent’s Spirit Awards.

While making her rounds on the blue carpet, Mimi was asked about her feelings on the headline-dominating Chris Brown/Rihanna situation. Not willing to get in the mix, Carey quickly replied: "No, absolutely no comment."

Talking to MTV, Carey was much more talkative when it came to her new movie "Precious," which hits theaters later this year.

The film tells the story of a teenage girl living in Harlem, with Mariah saying that she was "just honored to be a part of it. It's really something that's so strong and different and I think that it's really going to enlighten a lot of people and help a lot of people."
