Maggie Gyllenhaal Supports "The Seagull"
Katie Holmes isn’t the only Hollywood celebrity on Broadways these days. And last night (October 2), Maggie Gyllenhaal was spotted going to the opening night of “The Seagull” at the Walter Kerr Theatre, starring her husband Peter Sarsgaard.
The “Stranger Than Fiction” babe looked unusually conservative and subdued, sporting a long sleeved black dress complete with black-bowed heels.
Of his role in the play, Gyllenhaal’s hubby told press, “I think sometimes I’ve been told that I play a villain sympathetically. I don’t think that’s actually what I’m doing. I’m just trying to get at the undercurrent of something.”
And Sarsgaard explained that he’s not into playing gratuitously violent characters. “I try to wake up the side that actually gets horrified by somebody getting dismembered. Real feelings about real things that people actually have are my territory.”
