Madonna Wins Adoption Appeal

She was heartbroken when her application to adopt Mercy James was denied by the Malawian government earlier this year. But now Madonna has won the appeal process and will be adding the 3-year-old to her brood.

According to Madge’s lawyer Alan Chinula, she’s been up all night in anticipation of the announcement, made this morning in Malawi.

Chinula told press, “It’s the early hours in New York now but my client has been awake all night waiting for this. She was ecstatic when I broke the news to her. She said, ‘Thank heavens.’”

The next step in the process is for Madonna to arrange for a private jet to pick up Mercy via Philippe Van Der Bossche, the director of her Raising Malawi charity. This is said to be currently underway.
