Madonna Beefs Up Her Philanthropy Resume

Sure she’s been on vacation in India since New Year’s Eve, but don’t think for a second that Madonna isn’t doing her part to help the less fortunate in the impoverished country.

The “Beautiful Stranger” singer checked out the slums of Cuffe Paradehigh, which is described as a “seafront neighborhood where million-dollar high-rises nestle next to simple huts.”

Madge even stopped into a fisherman’s wharf-side home, accompanied by a female assistant. Following a few other stops, the pair stopped for a bite to eat at a roadside vegetarian restaurant.

According to reports, the Material Girl was squired about town by a convicted bank robber named Gregory David Roberts, who has sought refuge in the city after escaping and Australian jail 27 years ago.
