Lauren Conrad Delights In Design

While she claims she’s not just another celebrity designer, Lauren Conrad knows that it takes more than talk to gain credibility. And she’s hitting the drawing board in her quest to become a legendary designer.

According to the Hills babe, she’s been on the fashion trail ever since childhood. She told press, “Fashion is something I’ve always wanted to do, ever since sixth grade.”

And the 21-year-old designer has her own line, complete with 10 pieces set for the fall season. Currently the limited release is available online, with a more comprehensive spring line coming in early 2008.

While TV fame can be fleeting, Conrad says that she hopes her designing debut will blossom into a long-term career. "This is something I want to continue to do, long after the show ends. The clothes really fit my personality. I like comfortable, beachy clothes that can also be dressed up, too."

Lauren isn’t getting ahead of herself, either. She realizes that she’s a novice in the industry, and hopes to gain credibility over time. "Right now, I'm just trying to build up the brand and build up the image," she said. "The real test will be whether women out there who will buy my clothes."
