Kelly Ripa Kicks Up Her Heels
We’ve all heard of celebrity 5K runs and various other athletic events to raise money for charity. But today Kelly Ripa unveiled a whole new way to make a difference.
The blonde morning show host was in New York City’s Central Park for the “Live with Regis and Kelly’s” High Heel-A-Thon to benefit the March of Dimes.
The High Heel-A-Thon consisted of a 150-yard dash, with the competitors wearing- you guessed it- high heels as they ran. To be specific, the shoes had to have a minimum of a three-inch heel to actually compete for the prizes.
Five hundred women and eleven men from almost 40 states showed up to compete, with prizes awarded for first place ($25,000), second place ($5,000) and third place ($2,500). Even the guys got a prize, with the men’s dash winner taking home $1,000.
