Keanu Reeves: Not Guilty of Injuring Paparazzo
After just over an hour of deliberations, the jury in Keanu Reeves; paparazzo injury case decided that the plaintiff, Alison Silva, didn’t have a case.
Silva spent a year and a half trying to take the “Matrix” actor to court over charges that Reeves caused a serious wrist injury by running into him with his Porsche. Alison also alleged that he was unable to continue as a paparazzo as a result of the injury, and was forced to move on to shooting videos for tabloids instead.
Unfortunately for Silva, the Los Angeles County Superior Court panel in downtown LA denied his request for $711,974 and threw out the case due to a lack of any substance to his story.
Keanu’s legal team got Silva to admit that he’d moved on to the video side of things because of better pay, rather than wrist pain. A radiologist told the jury that the supposed wrist fracture appeared to be an old injury, a claim later substantiated by an emergency room doctor who heard Silva admit hurting his wrist while playing soccer as a youth in Brazil.
And the final nail in Silva’s case’s coffin came when Reeves’ lawyers produced a video from after the incident in which Alison was shown climbing down from a fence using his supposedly injured wrist. Attorney Alfred Gerisch declared, "It's time to end his 15 minutes [of fame]."
